Send Aamir Khan Rs 500 If You Enjoyed Laal Singh Chaddha On Netflix: Manav Vij
Actor Manav Vij, who also played a prominent role in the Aamir Khan-led film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', expressed how the boycott trend impacted the film.
Actor Manav Vij, who also had a significant part in the Aamir Khan-starrer movie 'Laal Singh Chaddha', spoke candidly about how the boycott trend affected the film.
When the drama premiered in theatres in August, Khan's remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 film 'Forrest Gump' was slammed by the audience. But when it started streaming on Netflix, a large number of people began to appreciate the movie.
Manav Vij mentioned in an interview that after watching the movie on OTT, people apologised to him. Vij, who played a Pakistani soldier in the movie, talked about how many on Twitter regretted not going to see 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in a theatre. The actor then advised them to give money to Aamir Khan's production company to make up for the losses sustained as a consequence of the boycott trend.
While promoting his most recent online series 'Tanaav', he spoke with Mid-Day and said, "Many people also apologised to me on Twitter, saying they didn’t watch Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres following the boycott trend. But they loved it when they watched it on Netflix.”
If people are being so apologetic, Vij remarked, they "should have transferred ₹500 to Aamir Khan Productions’ account. The producers are at a loss because of your stupidity".
After an old interview with Aamir circulated online, many people on social media boycotted 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which led to its failure at the box office. The movie, directed by Advait Chandan, only made Rs. 58.73 crore.
The comedy-drama 'Laal Singh Chaddha' was helmed by Advait Chandan. In addition to Manav Vij, the movie also stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh. The movie was made at a budget of Rs 180 crores and grossed less than Rs 90 crores in its first week of release.
