Here's what celebs have to say about controversy surrounding 'Udta Punjab'!
New Delhi : Can’t figure out whether it is a good news for the team of Udta Punjab as all the celebrities and film fraternity is taking a stand for the film or it’s a bad news as the Censor Board has asked the film makers to remove “Punjab” from the film.
Although, the whole film fraternity stand together and is condemning the decision to cut ‘Punjab’ from the title.
Director Karan Johar took a firm stand for the film and said that “film portrays the reality and compromising with it is completely delusional”
As the trailer of the film was released, it made obvious for everyone that film will brew some controversy and that’s what the team has to face right now. Known for his reality based films, director anurag kashyap tweeted, that Udta Punjab is an honest film and anyone who opposes it is equally guilty of promoting drugs!#UdtaPunjab speaks of the reality of our times....censoring reality amounts to delusion.....the fraternity has to stand by what's right!!

There is no film more honest than UDTA PUNJAB .. And any person or party opposing it is actually GUILTY of promoting drugs — Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) June 6, 2016And to this tweet , Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal completely agrees! Arvind Kejriwal retweeted the tweet and wrote his consent!

Delusion or collusion? Why is the establishment so scared of films that mirror reality? #UdtaPunjabCensored — Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) June 6, 2016Not only Bollywood but, sports persons are criticizing the removal of word ‘Punjab’ from the film. Cricketer Sir Ravindra Jadeja felt sad and said “Its Perfectly fine for them if a state is ruined by drugs?”
Though due to this decision, Pahlaj Nihlani, head of Central board of film certification has to face a lot of criticism but Ashok Pandit, member of CBFC has some different views on the matter. Ashok Pandit clearly told ANI, that if there are 89 cuts in #udtapunjab, film clearly loses its impression. They're Perfectly Fine With A State Getting Ruined By Drugs Misuse & Mafia,What Baffles Them Is A Movie Made On It.Sigh! #UdtaPunjabCensored

You cannot massacre the film by giving so many cuts and saying that you cannot use the name of a state:Ashok Pandit,CBFC member #UdtaPunjab — ANI (@ANI_news) June 6, 2016This is not for the first time that censor board has asked for the removal of a particular word, film Billu Barber also had to face the same situation and at last film was released with the name of ‘Billu.’ Well, we all wish that the audience gets to see the uncut version of the film with title #UdtaPunjab.
