It’s hard to believe that a talented artist like Irrfan Khan is no more with us. The ‘Piku’ star, known for his acting prowess, left for his heavenly abode on April 29, 2020. The ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ was posthumously conferred with the ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award at the recently held Filmfare Awards 2021. He was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to Indian cinema over the years.

Colors channel, which will air the awards ceremony, shared a video from the event on Twitter. Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan can be seen getting emotional while accepting the award on his father’s behalf. Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Riteish Deshmukh gave a heartfelt tribute to late Irrfan during the Filmfare Awards 2021. “The future generations will also learn a lot from you sir,” Rao said on stage.

“I am so grateful that you all accepted me with open arms and you gave me so much love and warmth. You and I will make this journey together. We will take Indian cinema to newer heights,” Babil said. Rajkummar also shed a tear as Babil delivered a speech on his father’s behalf.

Babil wore Irrfan Khan’s clothes for the gala event, which was attended by many leading B-town celebs. He revealed that his mother Sutapa Sikdar helped him dress for the ceremony. The star kid revealed the story behind the clothes in his Instagram post. He wrote, "The story behind the clothes was that my father hated participating in fashion shows and ramp walks but he did it in these same clothes in order to continuously break out of his comfort zone. That is exactly what I was doing last night, tearing though into new spaces that I’m uncomfortable with."

Irrfan bagged the award for the ‘Best Actor’ for his performance in ‘Angrezi Medium’. The comedy drama co-starring Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan couldn’t enjoy a long theatrical run due to the COVID-19 crisis. The movie was later released on Disney+ Hotstar.
