'It Was Very Difficult For Me As A Daughter...': Esha Deol On Watching Dharmendra In 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'

Esha Deol talks about seeing 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' and being moved by her father Dharmendra's performance.

New Delhi: Karan Johar's film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan was a hit with moviegoers because of its heartwarming blend of comic and dramatic moments, as well as its many throwback songs. Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra, two Bollywood legends, have a passionate kiss in this highly anticipated film. Esha Deol, the actress's daughter, has spoken out about seeing her dad in the film.

In an interview with ETimes, Esha Deol spoke about seeing her father, Dharmendra, in his latest film, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. The devoted daughter admitted that the movie brought forth strong feelings in her. When asked about her father's performance in the film, though, Esha said that she found it hard to see some of his scenes.

She said, “Yes, I did watch it and it was a very emotional film. It was very difficult for me as a daughter to sit through certain scenes that my dad was performing. But I mean, I love him too much and as an audience also, I admire him. So, I had to just sit and tell myself not to be the daughter while watching it. Watch it as an audience.”

Since the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's premiere, Dharmendra’s kiss with Shabana has also generated considerable interest. Hema Malini had been asked before about the on-screen kiss between Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. Even though she hadn't seen it, the actress was all praise for her husband's acting skills on camera. Hema Malini stated she is "happy" for the compliments despite not having seen the film yet.

Meanwhile, Esha Deol’s short film ‘Ek Duaa’ won an honourable mention at the 69th National Film Awards in the category of non-feature films.
