The victims' families have been notified, but their names have not been released by the authorities to protect privacy. The university has not revealed the reason behind the crash.

Sean Tindell, Commissioner, Mississippi Department of Public Safety, confirmed the tragic crash and offered condolences. In a post on X, he wrote: "Heartbreaking tragedy today involving the UMMC AirCare team. Sending prayers to their families, friends, and all those affected. May they find strength and comfort in this difficult time."
