CBFC Denies Claims Of Refusing Censor Certificate To Trailer Of 72 Hoorain: 'Misleading Reports Are Being Circulated'
The censor board has released an official statement calling the reports of denying censor certificate to the trailer of the film '72 Hoorain', “misleading.”
New Delhi: Ashoke Pandit, co-producer of the film ‘72 Hoorain’, had recently stated that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had denied a censor certificate to the film's trailer. The censor board has released an official statement calling the reports “misleading.”
The Board has stated that the reports about the film's trailer not getting a censor certificate are misleading as they don't paint a complete picture. The certification of the trailer is under due process.
The board officially communicated that contrary to reports, the film 'Bahattar Hoorain (72 Hoorain)' was granted 'A' certification on October 4, 2019. The certificate for the trailer of the film, directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, was applied for on June 19, 2023, and it is under due process.

The Board said that the trailer has been examined in accordance with the Guidelines issued under Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
The note read, “Misleading reports are being circulated in certain sections of media that a film and its trailer titled ‘Bahattar Hoorain (72 Hoorain)’ has been refused certification by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) (sic).”
Further adding, “Contrary to the reports, CBFC states that the film ‘Bahattar Hoorain (72 Hoorain)’ was granted 'A' certification and the certificate was issued on 4-10-2019. Now, the trailer of said film is under due process which was applied to CBFC on 19-6-2023 and examined in accordance with the Guidelines issued under Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The applicant was asked for requisite documentary submissions under intimation and upon receipt of the same, certification was granted subject to modifications. A show cause notice communicating the modifications was issued to the applicant/filmmaker on 27-6-2023 and the same is pending for the applicant's response/compliance (sic). Thus, any misleading reports may not be entertained or circulated hereinafter when the matter is under due process (sic).”
Earlier, Ashoke Pandit took to social media and shared a note and a video message. The note read, “In a surprising turn of events, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused the trailer of the highly anticipated National Award winning film, '72 Hoorain.' This decision has sent shockwaves through the film industry and sparked debates surrounding creative freedom and censorship (sic).”

The film, which tells the story of how brainwashing by terrorists is done, will release on July 7 in theatres.
