From India's first female superstar, Sridevi to small screen's favourite Dr Haathi of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma', there were some great actors who left us this year.

Amidst the fun and happiness of 2018, many stars and stalwart celebrities left us for the heavenly journey this year making the film and television industry in India a little empty. In fact, few of the actors also died young leaving behind grieving families and their fan base. This year claimed lives of many talented celebrities from the world of Hindi cinema and television, creating a void that can never be filled. Thousands of fans gathered at Sridevi's last journey And as we are all set to bid adieu to 2018 we remember these celebrities who passed away in 2018:

Sridevi

Sridevi Legendary actress Sridevi's untimely death left everyone from her family to fans worldwide in shock which literally took days to recover from. 54-year-old Sridevi passed away on 24 February 2018 due to accidental drowning in a bathtub in Dubai.Her cremation in Mumbai was also a national affair as thousands of fans gathered to get a glimpse of the veteran actress one last time.

Kavi Kumar Azad

Kavi Kumar Azad Another shocking celebrity death of 2018 was that of TV actor Kavi Kumar Azad who passed away on July 9 2018. Best remember as Dr. Haathi of Tarak Mehta Ka Ultah Chashma, Kavi Kumar died due to cardiac arrest. The entire TMKOC team was left shattered with the actor's untimely death and so were his fans.

Rita Bhaduri

Rita Bhaduri Another veteran Bollywood and TV actress who left us all grieving with their passing was Rita Bhaduri. 62-year-old actress breathed her last on 17 July 2018 when she was admitted to a hospital due to kidney ailments. She was last seen in TV show 'Nimki Mukhiya' and left fans and her co-stars mourning her sudden death.

Kalpana Lajmi

Kalpana Lajmi Noted film maker Kalpana Lajmi died on 23rd September 2018 after a prolonged fight against a kidney-related illness. She had a nearly three-year long battle with it and was often in and out of hospital. The director was famous for her work in cult films such as Rudaali. Her cremation in Mumbai, saw a number of stars such as Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan and veteran director Shyam Benegal paying their last respects.

Narendra Jha

Narendra Jha Versatile Bollywood actor Narendra Jha died on March 14, 2018 due to massive heart attack, he was 55 years old and his untimely death shocked everyone. Jha was known for his supporting roles in many Bollywood films as well as regional films such as Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’, Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Haider’, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ among many other works.

Nargis Rabadi aka Shammi Aunty

Shammi Fondly called as 'Shammi aunty' by the Bollywood industry, the veteran actress passed away on March 6, 2018 at the age of 89. She breathed her last at her Juhu Circle home. The actress who was popular for her comic roles, had appeared in over 200 films that including 'Coolie No 1', 'Hum', 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain' over her long film career.
