Ariana Grande overtakes Selena Gomez as Instagram's ‘most-followed woman'

Washington DC: Ariana Grande has overtaken Back to you" hitmaker Selena Gomez as the most-followed woman on Instagram. Gomez held the title with 146,267,801 followers, but Grande has eclipsed her fellow pop star with 146,286,173 followers, revealed The Hollywood Reporter.

However, both women are outpaced by soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who took the title as the most-followed person on Instagram from Gomez back in October. Grande has gained more than 13 million new Instagram followers in the last four months and maintains a hyperactive presence on the platform.

Although, Selena Gomez lost the rank of most followed woman on Instagram, she did set a personal record in February. The 'Love You Like Love' singer's pictures from her friend's bachelorette party is now her own most liked post on Instagram. The post has been liked over 13.9 million times and it is the fourth most liked post ever on Instagram. Here's the post!

Grande's new Instagram title comes on the heels of her record-breaking success with the release of her fifth full-length LP ‘Thank U, Next,’ which is spending a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Not only on Instagram, Ariana is also quite active on Twitter. 'The Bang bang' singer has over 61 million followers on the micro-blogging site.  The Time magazine, in 2016, named the 'Break Free' singer as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in its annual list.
