Amid India Bharat Debate, Akshay Kumar Starring Film Title Changed To Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue

New Delhi: The action-packed rescue thriller 'Mission Raniganj' starring Akshay Kumar is about to hit theatres. The movie is scheduled to premiere on October 6. The actor has changed the title of his upcoming movie, which was previously titled 'Mission Ranigan: The Great Indian Rescue', amid the ongoing discussion over changing India's name to Bharat. 

Akshay Kumar's movie has had its name altered amid the online debate on renaming India to Bharat after the government proposed it at the forthcoming special session of Parliament. 

On Wednesday, the actor released the motion poster for Mission Raniganj, but the internet quickly noticed a few changed references to 'Bharat' in his Instagram post. The Great Indian Rescue was the working title of 'Mission Raniganj'. The internet couldn't help but note how the tentative title appeared on the poster right beneath the final title.

The movie was based on a true story that happened at the "Raniganj Coalfield" and was inspired by Late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill's bravery in leading Bharat's coal mine rescue operation. In November 1989, Gill played a major part in the heroic rescue of all the miners still alive who were stranded in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj. 

'Mission Raniganj' stars Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. The rescue drama has been directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, and it is produced by Pooja Entertainment, the venture of Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani.

When President Draupadi Murmu sent official banquet invitations to heads of state and chief ministers during the G20 Summit in New Delhi, the word "India" was changed to "Bharat," which sparked a controversy.
