'What Is This New Price Surge?': After Taapsee Pannu, Huma Qureshi & Renuka Shahane Complain About Their Electricity Bill
Taking to the social media, B-town celebs expressed their concerns over sudden surge in their electricity bills for the months of May and June.
New Delhi: The hashtag #Electricity bill has taken over all the trends on social media after since Taapsee Pannu complained about bloated electricity bill for the month of June. Earlier, on Sunday evening, the 'Pink' actress Taapsee took to the micro-blogging site to express shock over sudden spike in electricity bills during the lockdown.
"3 months of lockdown and I wonder what appliance(s) I have newly used or bought in the apartment only last month to have such an insane rise in my electricity bill @Adani_Elec_Mum. What kind of POWER are you charging us for," Taapsee posted on Twitter.
Along with it, she attached pictures of the electricity bills, showing how she was charged Rs 36,000 for the month of June 2020. The bill for April was Rs 4,390 while the one for May amounted to Rs 3,850 only.
Taapsee had also mentioned on social media how she had received a bloated bill for another house where "no one stays". Taking a dig at Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML), the actor said, "it's only visited once in a week for cleaning purpose. I am now worried if someone is actually using the apartment without our knowledge and you have helped us uncover the reality."

Like Taapsee, other celebs like Huma Qureshi, Renuka Shahane, Pulkit Samrat, Vir Das and Neha Dhupia also expressed their concerns over sudden surge in their electricity bills for this month.
Taking to the social media, Renuka Shahane shared screenshots of bills for the months on May, June, andpointed out the huge difference in the bill statements for two months.
Huma too expressed her woes over the spike in power bills. The actor posted on her Twitter wall saying, "What are these new electricity rates ?? @Adani_Elec_Mum Last month I paid 6k .. and this month 50 k ????!!! What is this new price surge ?? Kindly enlighten us"
Similarly comedian Vir Das asked citizens if they too were charged three times the bill they usually pay. "Anyone else in Mumbai get an electricity bill that is triple what they usually pay?" Das tweeted.
