After Parasite Actor Lee Sun-Kyun, BigBang’s G-Dragon Booked For Drug Abuse
After making his debut in 2006, G-Dragon became popular as Big Bang's leader.
New Delhi: Former Big Bang member and K-pop singer G-Dragon was booked on Wednesday in connection with an alleged drug case. The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency charged G-Dragon with breaking the Act on the Control of Narcotics, Etc. on October 25, according to News1. G-Dragon was not placed in custody after being arrested.
The police did, however, further clarify that the incident had nothing to do with actor Lee Sun Gyun, who withdrew from a drama earlier this week and is currently under investigation for drug use. The police identified G-Dragon during their investigation, according to a News 1 report, following Lee Sun Kyun's detention.
The artist's management company, YG Entertainment, responded to the news by making a brief statement. They said in an official statement, according to Xports News, “It is difficult to respond officially as he is not currently an artist under our company.”
The exclusive contract between YG Entertainment and G-Dragon expired, the company announced in June.
Eight people, including Lee Sun-Kyun and the daughter of the chairman of an industrial group, were the subject of an earlier probe by the South Korean police authorities. The accused allegedly used illegal substances both at their houses and in local pubs. Lee Sun-Kyun was allegedly seen taking illegal drugs with the listed kids of the industrial group, according to the allegations. However, Lee Sun-Kyun's attorney denied the claim that he doesn't know any of the accused.
On the other hand, Lee Sun Kyun, well-known for starring in 'Parasite', made headlines this week because of allegations that he used unidentified illegal substances in Seoul.
After making his debut in 2006, G-Dragon became popular as Big Bang's leader. Being among the world's best-selling boy bands, the group made a major contribution to the Korean music industry and its popularity across the globe.
