Justin Bieber revealed that he’s undergoing treatment for Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. He revealed that he can’t blink an eye or even smile on one side of his face.
The 28-year-old singing sensation posted a video on his official Instagram handle revealing the news of him having partial face paralysis. He confirmed that he is seeking treatment for Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
Understanding Ramsay Hunt Syndrome
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a painful rash around the ear or on the face.
The virus is caused by a virus called Varicella-Zoster which attacks the facial nerve near the inner ear. The condition causes severe pain in the ear, hearing loss on one side, paralysis on one side of the face etc.
While it can be treated with antiviral medications and corticosteroids, However, in some cases, facial paralysis and hearing loss can be permanent.
The Canadian singer in his video demonstrated that he is unable to blink one of his eyes or smile or even move his nostril. He called this situation “pretty serious” and said “for those who are frustrated by my cancellation of the next shows, I am just physically obviously not capable of doing them.”
Just after a few hours of posting this video he posted a story in which he mentioned “been getting progressively harder to eat which has been frustrating, please pray for me.”
The video crossed over 14 million views within a few hours and his comment section was filled with prayers. Many renowned people including DJ Khaled, Shawn Mendes, Khloe Kardashian commented on his post. Justin Timberlake wrote “Love you bro, Prayers up and sending healing vibes.”
He said that his body is telling him to slow down and said “I will be using this time to just relax and get back to 100 percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”
