Zac Efron Says He Will Be 'Honoured' To Play Late Friends Star Matthew Perry In Future Biopic

Zac Efron described Matthew as a mentor figure and said he wished he could have played the late actor in a biopic.

New Delhi: A few days after Matthew Perry's tragic demise, Zac Efron shared his thoughts on his co-star from the film ‘17 Again’. On the evening of November 8, Efron was attending the global premiere of his newest film, ‘The Iron Claw’, in Dallas, Texas. While walking the red carpet for the event, he reflected on Perry. During their time working together on the film '17 Again' in 2009, Efron fondly recalled Perry as his mentor and gave him credit for teaching him comic timing.

Zac Efron has spoken up about the loss of a ‘Friends’ actor who served as a role model for him. He even expressed interest in playing Perry in a potential biopic. He told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m devastated for his loss. He was a mentor to me, and we made a really cool film together. I looked up to him, I learned comedic timing from that guy. I mean, when we were filming 17 Again, it was so surreal for me to look across and have him be there, because I’ve learned so much from him, from his whole life.”

Athena Crosby, a friend of Matthew Perry's, recently told Entertainment Tonight Canada that Matthew was enthusiastic about the idea of a biopic being made on his life.

Perry starred as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’ for ten seasons and was featured in the films The Whole Nine Yards (2000), Fools Rush In (1997), and Three to Tango (1999). The actor passed away on October 28 by apparent drowning. His body was found in the hot tub of his Pacific Palisades residence.

Zac Efron is now promoting his forthcoming film, a wrestling drama - ‘The Iron Claw’, which will be released in theatres on December 22. Efron co-stars with Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson and Stanley Simons.
