Urvashi Rautela’s Team Claims Her Crocodile Necklace ‘Worth Rs 276 Cr’ After She Was Accused Of Wearing A Copy

Urvashi Rautela’s team has issued a statement after she was called out by a jewellery entrepreneur for wearing a copy of the Cartier crocodile neckpiece.

New Delhi: Urvashi Rautela’s team has issued a statement after she was called out by a jewellery entrepreneur for wearing a copy of the Cartier crocodile neckpiece. Urvashi’s PR team has claimed that the price of her neckpiece has gone up from Rs 200 crore to Rs 276 crore.

In their statement, her team wrote, “In their statement, her team wrote, “The original crocodile neck piece worn by @Urvashirautela has increased its value from Rs 200 crore to 276 crore. It represents Rautela’s tenacity & nonetheless serves as a symbol of both the challenges & successes that women face in patriarchal society.”

Urvashi was earlier trolled for a Cartier neckpiece featuring two intertwined alligators that she sported during her first red-carpet outing at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The actor later reacted to the trolling in a chat with Brut India. She said, “People, who don’t have the right information, those are the people who are writing bizarre comments about it (her necklace). But people, who know about the history of that jewellery, it is such an iconic piece, they will absolutely fall in love with the crocodile neckpiece. Actually, it is a very iconic piece… You actually have to read about it, it is very historic. In fact, I wasn’t aware of this, but I got to know that it was worn by Monica Bellucci back in 2006 at Cannes. I had absolutely no idea about it.”

Urvashi's statement came after a jewellery expert named Arundhati De-Sheth claimed that the necklace was just a copy of the Cartier crocodile neckpiece and was not an original.

On her Instagram story, she posted a picture of the original pieces and wrote, "Going to Cannes in France. Home of @cartier- Then wearing a poor shoddy sad ugly copy of a historic piece. Allegedly representing our nation and pretending to be wearing the real thing. When it's been hastily crafted in the back of beyond. Shameful @teamurvashirautelaofficial it seems you have not done any homework. We are a land of the most special treasures and jewels that she could have worn instead - this is blatant and so sad (sic)."
