Tuesday Trivia: When Rani Mukerji 'Froze' In Chiffon Saree During Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna Shoot

During a roundtable chat, Rani Mukerji spilt the beans on filming the music video of 'Tumhi Dekho Na' from 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'.

New Delhi: Karan Johar's 2006 romantic drama 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' has remained popular thanks to its songs. The film revolves around infidelity in marriage and broken relationships which featured SRK, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and others. Karan and Rani joined other panellists in a recent roundtable discussion. While KJo was describing how Alia Bhatt bravely filmed in cold weather conditions while wearing a chiffon saree for 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' song ‘Tum Kya Mile’, Rani related a personal story that was very similar.

Rani Mukerji recounted her terrifying experience of being frozen while shooting the song ‘Tumhi Dekho Naa’ at Galatta Plus Mega Pan India Roundtable 2023. According to her, she genuinely froze and was unable to move while dressed in a red saree.

Rani shared, “I was wearing a red saree in that song, and I actually froze. I couldn’t walk. And one of my cousins, who was also AD-ing him, Ayan, he had to literally carry me to my car, because I had frozen… If you see the song, in the lip-sync, my lips are frozen. I’m trying to sing it, and it looks sensuous, but it’s not sensuous actually.” 

Karan remembered the experience and stated, “I was so crazy at that time, in -14 degrees, I said I want rain. So, there was a rain machine, but before it was reaching them, it was becoming ice. We had a health and safety department saying, ‘You’ll kill them’.”

Karan joked that another time, when they were shooting in -13 temperature, Rani was supposed to say the word ‘garden’, but she couldn’t say it correctly because it was so cold. “I can’t tell you what it was coming out as,” Karan said.

Karan's most recent film as director 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' was a financial success while Rani was last seen in 'Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway'.
