'$5 Trillion Economy Not Possible Without Women's Participation': Bollywood Stars Hail Reservation Bill

New Delhi: The recent approval of the Women's Reservation Bill, officially known as 'Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam,' has been widely celebrated across the country. The ongoing special session of the Parliament in Delhi has witnessed talks on a wide range of matters alongwith the Women Reservation Bill, which was enacted by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Many Bollywood actors have just visited the new Parliament building. Tamannaah Bhatia, Asha Bhosle, and Divya Dutta, the latest additions to the list, visited the new Parliament building on Thursday and hailed the Women's Reservation Bill.
"The passing of the Women's Reservation Bill is a historic occasion for our country... If women are not represented properly, then when we talk about the $5 trillion economy, it would not be possible without women's participation... This bill was important. This will be the first step for us to become a superpower," Bhatia told media.

The women's reservation bill proposes a 33 percent quota for women in Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. The legislation, now known as the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam,' was introduced on Tuesday in the maiden Lok Sabha session in the new Parliament building by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. According to the bill, one-third of the total number of seats allotted for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be reserved for women from those categories. These reserved seats may be assigned by rotation to various districts within a state or union territory.
