Rashmika Mandanna Reacts To Arrest Of The Person Responsible For The Deepfake Video

Eemani Naveen, the suspected mastermind, is accused of generating and posting deepfake videos of Rashmika Mandanna on social media.

New Delhi: After the arrest of the person who made her deepfake video, actor Rashmika Mandanna has responded. Rashmika took to X to thank the police and to deliver a message for her fans. The main accused in the case was taken into custody by Delhi Police on Saturday. 

“Expressing my heartfelt gratitude to @DCP_IFSO Thank you for apprehending those responsible. Feeling truly grateful for the community that embraces me with love, support and shields me. Girls and boys - if your image is used or morphed anywhere without your consent. It is wrong! And I hope this is a reminder that you are surrounded by people who will support you and action will be taken!, “ Rashmika wrote.

According to news agency ANI, Eemani Naveen, 24, the suspected mastermind who is accused of generating and posting deepfake videos of Rashmika on social media, was taken into custody by the Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of Special Cell. Naveen used to manage a fan page for Rashmika and also made two more for two other well-known celebrities, according to Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police, IFSO Unit.

As soon as the 24-year-old noticed that his videos led to a national uproar, the police officer claimed that he got frightened.

"Later when he realized that it became a national sensation. He also saw tweet from famous film stars against the said deep fake video. He got scared and deleted the said posts from the Instagram Channel and also changed the name of Insta channel. He had also deleted the relevant digital data from his devices," the police officer said.

A deepfake AI-generated video of actor Rashmika surfaced online in November of last year, sparking debates around internet safety. A woman who looked like Rashmika stepped inside an elevator in the video while decked out in a black bodysuit.
