Samay Raina is under fire for his YouTube show India’s Got Latent after a controversial remark made by Ranveer Allahbadia sparked widespread outrage. During an episode, Ranveer’s inappropriate comment led to severe backlash, prompting multiple police complaints and FIRs against Ranveer, Samay, and other individuals associated with the show. Amid the controversy, an old video featuring comedian Bharti Singh has resurfaced, where she defends Samay Raina and his style of humour. 

When Bharti Singh defended Samay Raina

Bharti, who appeared on ‘India’s Got Latent’ alongside her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa and singer Tony Kakkar, spoke highly of Samay’s talent. When questioned by a paparazzo about the criticism surrounding the show, she remarked, "Woh show hi aisa hai, but zaroori nahi ki aap show mein jaake wahi bolo jo show ki requirement hai. Aapki marzi—bolo ya na bolo. Samay thodi kehta hai, 'Arey, muh kholo, bolo!' Samay bohot accha ladka hai aur talented bhi hai. Gen-Z ka pasand hai woh. Khud jaoge toh uske fan ho jaoge. Itna accha hai (The show itself is like that, but it's not necessary that you say exactly what the show demands. It's your choice—say it or don’t. It’s not like Samay forces anyone. Samay is a very good guy and also talented. He is popular among Gen-Z. If you meet him yourself, you’ll become his fan. That’s how good he is)."

Further defending the comedian’s choice of language, Bharti added, "Agar uski language jo use karta hai woh pasand nahi hai, toh millions hai aur hum hi hai, jo Samay Raina lagate hai aur dekhte hain (If you don't like the language he uses, there are millions of others, including us, who watch Samay Raina and enjoy his content)." 

What Ranveer Allahbadia said on India's Got Latent

The controversy erupted when Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as ‘BeerBiceps,’ asked a contestant an offensive and highly inappropriate question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?” 

The shocking remark quickly went viral, drawing intense criticism across social media. As backlash mounted, Allahbadia issued an apology, acknowledging the insensitivity of his comment. 

Legal repercussions

Legal repercussions soon followed, with FIRs lodged against Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, among others, for allegedly using "abusive language" on the show. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell registered a case  nearly 30-40 individuals linked to the show, covering all those involved from its debut episode up to episode six.
