Farah Khan Says Many In Film Industry Were Sceptic About Her Wedding, Recalls A Famous Director Even Said I'll Go To Her Second Wedding'
In 2004, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder tied the knot. In 2008, they welcomed triplets via IVF.
New Delhi: Farah actually had to start working at an early age in order to make ends meet, but she quickly realised that choreography was her true calling. Farah stated in a recent interview that her family was unique from many others in that they did not want her to marry before she achieved financial independence.
Wanting to get married at 22
Farah stated in an interaction with Nova IVF Fertility's YouTube channel that she was always a "work oriented person" and that marriage and children weren't on her mind while she was in her 20s.
However, she stated that she had considered getting married when she was 22 years old, despite her family's advice to the contrary.
“Marriage was not on my mind at all. I think at 22 or something, I thought I will get married but I have a weird family. They got together and they said we will kick you out of the house if you get married this young, without doing anything in life. So they were the complete opposite of what normal parents would do,” she said.
According to Farah, her mother sternly warned her that if Farah got married, she would be kicked out of the house. “My mother said I’ll throw you out of the house. You have to make something of your life. You have to be financially independent before you get married,” she added.
Farah Khan on IVF
Farah claimed that she had never given marriage a second thought before meeting Shirish Kunder.
In 2004, Farah and Shirish tied the knot. In 2008, they welcomed triplets via IVF. She added that it would not have been easy for her and Shirish if they had not been parents.
“If there was no IVF, I probably would not have had kids and I think either Shirish would have killed me or I would have killed him by now. By now, we would have killed each other because the children are a big factor in keeping everyone together,” Farah added.
Farah revealed that there were sceptics in the film industry about her marriage. She added, “No one thought I am going to get married and no one thought that I am going to stay married. I remember this very famous director was asked, ‘Are you attending Farah’s wedding?’ And he said ‘no, but I will attend the next one’. So I was like I’ll show you, wait.”
