National Award Winner R Madhavan To Be Next President Of Film And Television Institute Of India
R Madhavan's 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,' a film based on the life of former ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan, won big at the National Film Awards.
New Delhi: R Madhavan has been named the next President of the Film & Television Institute of India, days after his directorial debut 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' took home the National Award for Best Film. He succeeds acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur, who held the office from September 30, 2020, to the present.
Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced the news on his X account (formerly Twitter) and sent his warmest wishes to the National Award-winning actor.
“Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council. I'm sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you,” he wrote.
In his response on X, Madhavan reposted Anurag's tweet and wrote, “Thank you so very much for the honor and kind wishes @ianuragthakur Ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations.”

The FTII, located in Pune, Maharashtra, was founded in 1960 and offers acting, directing, cinematography, and editing courses.
'Alaipayuthey', a 2000 romance drama directed by Mani Ratnam, marked Madhavan's debut in Tamil cinema. He made his Bollywood debut the following year with 'Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein', a romantic drama directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Dia Mirza. 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,' a biographical drama based on the life of former ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan, won big at the 69th National Film Awards on August 24. The actor earned the Best Feature Film honour. R Madhavan will play the lead role in Sashikanth's forthcoming film 'Test'. According to reports, this movie stars Madhavan and is based on the cricket industry.
