Aamir Khan Confirms Daughter Ira's Wedding Date, Says 'Uss Din Main Bahut Rone Waala Hoon'
Actor Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan is all set to tie the knot on January 3, 2024, with her fiancé- celebrity fitness trainer Nupur Shikhare.
New Delhi: Actor Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan is all set to tie the knot on January 3, 2024, with her fiancé- celebrity fitness trainer Nupur Shikhare. The actor confirmed the wedding date at a recent event. Ira and Nupur got engaged in November 2022.
Amir spoke about his kids at News18 India's ‘Amrit Ratna 2023’ event and said he is looking forward to his son's film debut and is excited about his daughter's wedding to Nupur in January. Aamir also said that Nupur emotionally supported Ira when she was battling depression.
"Ira is getting married on January 3. The boy she has chosen is — waise toh pet name unka naam Popeye hai (his pet name is Popeye) — he is trainer, he has arms like Popeye but his name is Nupur. He is a lovely boy. When Ira was battling depression, he was with her. He is really someone who has stood by her and emotionally supported her. I am happy that she has selected a boy who… they are so happy together. They are very well connected, they really look after each other and care for each other.”
Aamir Khan on being emotional
Talking about Nupur’s family, the actor said his mother is part of their family now. The actor also said that he gets emotional and will cry a lot at his daughter’s wedding.
“This might be a filmy dialogue but I feel Nupur is like a son. Nupur is such a fine boy, we really feel he’s part of the family and his mother, Pritam ji, is someone who is already a part of our family. Main toh bada emotional hota hoon bhai, uss din main bahut rone waala hoon yeh toh tay hai (I get very emotional, I'm going to cry a lot that day, that's for sure). Discussions have already begun in the family that ‘Aamir ko sambaalna uss din (take care of Aamir that day)’ because I am very emotional. I can’t control my smile nor my tears.”
Speaking about his relationship with his three kids, the actor said, “With all my kids, I'm like a friend. I'm a friendly father. We share a strong bond and talk openly... I'm calmer. My relationship with my kids is better now.”
Amir Khan has three kids - Ira and Junaid from his first marriage with Reena Dutta. They got married in 1986 and separated in 2002. He also has a son Azad from his second marriage with Kiran Rao. Kiran and Aamir separated in 2022.
