New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a complaint was filed at Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday by the residents of Tara Jivanpur village, allege that their hands were forcefully inked by 3 men on Saturday night, who handed over Rs 500 each to them.
As per the complainants, the men approached them only hours before voting for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections began on Sunday. As per reports, the three men who inked hands of the villagers forcefully belonged to Bharatiya Janta Party.
“They asked us if we will vote for BJP and applied ink on our hands and said now you cannot vote, don’t tell anyone”.
Speaking on the incident, Chandrauli SDM Kr Harsh said, “Complainants are present at the police station. We will take action as per the complaint they file. They are still eligible to cast votes as the elections hadn't begun then, they will have to mention in the FIR that ink was forcefully applied to them.”
The voting for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections in 7 states and one Union territory began on Sunday morning 7am amid high security. Polling is currently underway in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Chandigarh.
