Punjab Election 2022: Yogi Condemns Channi's 'UP, Bihar Ke Bhaiyya' Remark, Calls It 'Real Face Of Congress'

Condemning the statement made by Channi, Adityanath said that the Congress party will understand the worth of labourers from Uttar Pradesh once they stop going to Punjab.

New Delhi: It is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who has now hit out at Charanjit Singh Channi for his "UP, Bihar ke bhaiyya" remark. Condemning the statement made by Channi, Adityanath said that the Congress party will understand the worth of labourers from Uttar Pradesh once they stop going to Punjab. He also said that in the next five years there will be no migration of labourers from his state and that they will only work for the betterment of Uttar Pradesh.

"The day labourers from UP stop going to other states for work, they (Congress government) know what situation will be confronted by them. "But I assure you, that the people of UP will stay in UP in the next 5 years and work for the development of their state," said UP CM in an interview to the national television.

Yogi took a further dig at Charanjit Singh Channi and said that the Chief Minister should have learnt from the teachings of Sant Ravidas and not made such comments as it reveals the real face of the Congress party.

"If Channi had learned from the teachings of Sant Ravidas, he would not have made such statements. This is the actual face of Congress," said Yogi in the interview.

Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal condemned the comments made by the CM, and said Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is also a 'bhaiyya' since she is from Uttar Pradesh.

"It is very shameful. We strongly condemn comments aimed at any individual or any particular community. Priyanka Gandhi also belongs to UP so she is also a bhaiya," said Kejriwal.

Channi, while addressing a rally in Punjab on Tuesday had said, "...don't let UP, Bihar ke bhaiyya enter Punjab". While he made the comments, Priyanka Gandhi was present with him and could be seen smiling and applauding.
