PM Modi statements came during the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance meeting with 37 of its allies in the national capital

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a swipe at the 'INDIA' alliance comprising of like-minded Opposition parties calling it "majboori ki dosti" (forced friendship). Citing examples of indifferences between the parties in different states, PM Modi said, "People of the country are saying its not a mission but majbooriyan (compulsions)." PM Modi statements came during the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance meeting with 37 of its allies in the national capital. "Opposition parties can come closer for political selfishness but they cannot come together," Modi said.

The meeting was attended by 38 parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiromani Akali Dal (Samyukta), Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Apna Dal, All Jharkhand Students Union, Hindustan Awam Morcha, Kuki People's Alliance (Manipur), National People's Party, Nationalist Democratic Progressive PartyNeiphiu Rio, Naga People's Front among others.

  • Foreign countries always wait for election result. No country wants to waste their time and energy on the outgoing government, but this time everyone knows that elections are going to take place (in India) in coming few months, then too various important countries, be it US, France, Australia, Japan, UAE, UK, all of them are inviting representatives of NDA government. This is because they also know people of country believe in NDA.
  • NDA's vote share was 38 per cent in 2014 and 45 per cent in 2019. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, NDA's vote share will be above 50 per cent because of its allies who are working hard.
  • NDA is committed to the people of the country. Its ideology is 'Nation First', security of nation first, P'rogress First', 'Empowerment of people first'.
  • We always did positive politics even when we were in the opposition. We have never sought foreign help to oppose governments. We remained in the opposition but did not block or become an obstacle to the development of the country.
  • "Another coincidence is associated with this journey of 25 years of NDA. This is the time when our country is taking big steps to achieve a big goal in the coming 25 years. This goal is of a developed India, of a self-reliant India.
  • Politics can have rivalry, not enmity; but opposition abuses us and tries to run us down.
  • "NDA is not an alliance of compulsion but of contribution. No party is big or small in this alliance,".
