Increased Monthly Pay For Anganwadi, Asha Workers, Rs 3 Lakh On Retirement – Priyanka's Poll Promises In K’taka

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made several promises for Anganwadi and Asha workers in Karnataka which she said will be implemented if the party wins the May 10 polls.

Karnataka Elections 2023: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday pushed the party's poll campaign in the state with full force as she made several promises for the people in the state if Congress wins the May 10 polls. The focus of her announcements are the women of the state, primarily the Anganwadi, Asha and other women workers. Apart from this, Gandhi also hit out at the BJP accusing it of getting indulged in horse trading to form the government in the state.

She said that if Congress wins the assembly elections, the honorarium for women working in Anganwadi will be increased to Rs 15,000 per month while for Mini Anganwadi workers, it would be enhanced to Rs 10,000 per month. For Asha workers, she said the monthly pay would be fixed at Rs 8,000 per month and Rs 5,000 per month for women working in the mid-day meal programme.

Furthermore, Priyanka Gandhi said that these women workers do not get anything after they get relieved from the job and hence, she promised Rs 3 lakhs on retirement or premature death benefits for women in Anganwadi and Rs 2 lakhs on retirement or premature death benefits for women in Mini Anganwadi.

Priyanka's Fresh Attack On BJP

Slamming BJP for horse trading, Gandhi said, "BJP formed such a government in Karnataka by buying MLAs, whose intention was wrong from the beginning. As a result, the governance in the state has decreased, the Chief Minister has been changed, development work has stopped, and corruption has taken place. "

"Today the BJP government of Karnataka... is known by the name of 40 per cent commission government," she added.

She said that the BJP government had promised increased reservation for SC, ST and OBC, but when the time came, the Modi government said in the Parliament that this cannot happen.

"He didn't do it when he was in the government, now the election has come, BJP is again talking the same thing," Gandhi further said.
