Jharkhand Polls: Shah Accuses JMM Govt Of ‘Fueling Naxalism For Political Gains’, Promises 27% Quota For OBC

Jharkhand Election 2024: Amit Shah accused the JMM-led coalition of supporting Naxalism for political gains. The BJP, if elected, promises UCC, 27% reservation for OBCs, and 3 lakh government jobs.

Jharkhand Election 2024: In a pointed critique of the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) coalition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the JMM coalition of “fuelling Naxalism for political gains,” and vowed that the Narendra Modi-led Union government would eradicate the Naxalite menace from the country by March 2026. Speaking at a rally in Simaria, Chatra district, he further announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would introduce a Uniform Civil Code in Jharkhand, exempting tribal communities from its provisions.

Expressing confidence in the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) chances, Shah predicted a BJP victory in Jharkhand, projecting a win of at least 52 out of the state’s 81 assembly seats. Citing the NDA's performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, he stated, “It is time to oust the anti-Dalit, anti-tribal, anti-poor, and anti-youth Hemant government from Jharkhand,” accusing the Soren government of diverting funds meant for the poor and tribal communities, news agency PTI reported. Shah asserted that a BJP government would ensure all corrupt leaders in Jharkhand are brought to justice.

Shah highlighted the NDA’s success in the Lok Sabha elections, noting that the alliance won nine out of Jharkhand’s 14 parliamentary seats, with 80 lakh votes cast in its favour. With 47 per cent of the total votes in the state supporting the NDA, he expressed confidence in an assembly election victory.

Outlining the BJP’s commitments to Jharkhand, Shah said, “This election is about liberating Jharkhand from corruption. It’s about Jharkhand’s development, protecting our land, bread, and daughters, and freeing the state from Naxalism and infiltrators to build a prosperous Jharkhand.” He further assured the people of Jharkhand that the BJP would offer three lakh government jobs to youths in the state, declaring, “The BJP will provide government jobs to three lakh youths in Jharkhand.”

BJP Govt To Give 27% Reservation For OBC: Amit Shah In Jharkhand

He affirmed the BJP’s promise to give Other Backward Classes (OBC) 27 per cent reservation without affecting existing quotas for others. Speaking on financial support, Shah announced that under the 'Gogo Didi' scheme, every sister would receive Rs 2,100 in her account monthly. Additionally, the BJP, if elected, would provide Rs2,000 as an unemployment allowance for every youth.

Previously, JMM MLA Kalpana Soren had "dared" the BJP to lend support to the demands of the Sarna religious code, and 27 per cent reservation for OBCs. During an election rally in Tundi in Dhanbad district, she said, "If the BJP has the guts, it should stand for tribal rights such as the Sarna religious code, and recruitment policy, and 27 per cent reservation for OBCs."

Shah also addressed the issue of infrastructure development in the Chatra district, criticising the lack of a new degree college, hospital, and women’s college. He assured voters that a BJP government in Jharkhand would construct a new degree college, hospital, and women’s college within two years.

The assembly elections are set to take place on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
