If Cong Wants, We Can Fight 2024 General Polls Together: Mamata's Outreach For Grand Oppn Alliance

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said the win in four states will be a “big loss” for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

New Delhi: Asserting it is “impractical” that results of the recent assembly elections will decide the fate of 2024 Lok Sabha polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday extended an offer to the Congress to contest the next general elections together.

“If the Congress wants, we all can fight (2024 general elections) together. Don't be aggressive for now, be positive,” she said, ANI report.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said the win in four states will be a “big loss” for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“This (2022 election results will decide fate of 2024 polls) is impractical,” she added.

Continuing her outburst against the BJP, Banerjee said that there was “loot” and “malpractices” of the EVMs.

Voicing her support for Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Banerjee said the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister shouldn’t be disheartened and should seek forensic tests of the same EVM machines.

“Akhilesh Yadav’s vote percentage increased from 20% to 37% this time,” she added.

The West Bengal Chief Minister’s remarks come as the BJP registered victory in the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

The BJP secured majority in Uttar Pradesh by winning 255 seats in the 403-member assembly.

In Uttarakhand, the BJP secured absolute majority by securing 47 seats in the 70-member assembly.

In the 40-member Goa Assembly, the BJP won 20 seats.

In Manipur, the BJP secured majority by winning 32 seats in the 60-member assembly.

The BJP, however, failed to impress in Punjab where the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagged 92 seats in the 117-member assembly.

The Congress yet again failed to impress in all the five states.
