Centre Acts On Inflation Only During Polls, Says Priyanka Gandhi

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, general secretary of the Congress, slammed the Union government on Monday for raising the prices of onions and other vital goods, saying the administration only tries to control inflation when elections are approaching, PTI reported. She was speaking at a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Indore-5 Assembly constituency, where elections will be place on November 17 and ballots will be tallied on December 3.

"Onion prices have increased before Diwali and housewives are upset over this. The government makes efforts to control inflation only when elections are held. The price of an LPG cylinder rose to Rs 1,400 and two months before the elections, the government reduced its price to Rs 400," she said.
