Vijayawada: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 74714 votes. The polling / voting in Vijayawada constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani and YSR Congress Party#s P Vara Prasad (PVP)

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 76.39% Lok Sabha percent with 77.09% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 75.68% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 5294 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 22 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Vijayawada, 20 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Koneru Rajendra Prasad by a margin of 74714 votes.

Here, Indian National Congress leader Rajagopal Lagadapati attained 429394 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Vamsi Mohan Vallabhaneni bagged 416682 votes
• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Rajagopal Lagadapati attained 519624 votes and TDP's Aswini Dutt Chalasani bagged 405037 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 87066 votes TDP candidate Gadde Rama Mohan had got 482968 while INC got Upendra Parvathaneni votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 30067 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Upendra Parvathaneni attained 405062 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Jai Ramesh Dasari bagged 374995 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Upendra Parvathaneni attained 397709 votes and TDP's Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao bagged 283435 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 36221 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Vadde Sobhandreswara Rao attained 326890 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Chennupati Vidya (W) bagged 290669 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 58204 votes INC candidate Chennupati Vidya had got 423867 while TDP got Vadde Sobhanadreeswarrarao votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 28444 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao attained 318023 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Chennupati Vidya bagged 289579 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 98702 votes INC(I) candidate Vidya Chennupati had got 240622 while JNP got K.L.Rao votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BLD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Godey Murahari attained 239733 votes and BLD's Gottipati Murali Mohan bagged 119696 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated CPI candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate K. L. Rao attained 251917 votes and CPI's D. Nagabhushana Rao bagged 95913 votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and ; here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his counterpart with a difference of 0 votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 22983 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K.L.Rao attained 177794 votes and CPI candidate Nanduri Durga Mallikharjuna Prasada Rao bagged 154811 votes
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 2088 votes.
• 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Independent candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 74924 votes IND candidate Harindranath Chatopadhyya had got 124320 while INC got Rajyam Sinha votes.
