Background
Vijayawada: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 74714 votes. The polling / voting in Vijayawada constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani and YSR Congress Party#s P Vara Prasad (PVP)
Vijayawada 2014 Lok Sabha PollsIn the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

- 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 87066 votes TDP candidate Gadde Rama Mohan had got 482968 while INC got Upendra Parvathaneni votes.
- 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 30067 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Upendra Parvathaneni attained 405062 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Jai Ramesh Dasari bagged 374995 votes
- 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Upendra Parvathaneni attained 397709 votes and TDP's Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao bagged 283435 votes.
- 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 36221 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Vadde Sobhandreswara Rao attained 326890 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Chennupati Vidya (W) bagged 290669 votes
- 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 58204 votes INC candidate Chennupati Vidya had got 423867 while TDP got Vadde Sobhanadreeswarrarao votes.
- 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 28444 votes.
