Tirupati: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Varaprasad Rao Velagapalli from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) won the elections by a margin of 37425 votes. The polling / voting in Tirupati constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Panabaka Lakshmi and YSR Congress Party#s Balle Durgaprasad

Tirupati 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Tirupati, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Varaprasad Rao Velagapalli of the YSR Congress Party as he defeated Karumanchi Jayaram by a margin of 37425 votes.

• 2009 Lok Sabha Elections: In 15th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 19276 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Dr. Chinta Mohan attained 428403 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Varla Ramaiah bagged 409127 votes
• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Chinta Mohan attained 510961 votes and BJP's Dr. N. Venkata Swamy bagged 311633 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 12497 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Dr.N.Venkataswamy attained 386478 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Chintha Mohan bagged 373981 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Telugu Desam Party here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Telugu Desam Party counterpart with a difference of 9346 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 52332 votes INC candidate Nelavala Subrahmanyam had got 344738 while TDP got Gali Rajasree votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Chinta Mohan attained 391534 votes and TDP's P. Subbaiah bagged 205345 votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 72500 votes INC candidate Chinta Mohan had got 406057 while TDP got M.Muragaiah votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 34781 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Chinta Mohan attained 318467 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Penchalaiah Pasala bagged 283686 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Pasala Penchalaiah attained 241965 votes and JNP's Balakrishnaiah Tambura bagged 86659 votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated BLD candidate with a difference of 40180 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Balakrishnaiah Tambura attained 240394 votes and BLD candidate Allam Krishnaiah bagged 200214 votes
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated SWA candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Balakrishnaiah Thamburu attained 231262 votes and SWA's C. V. Siddaiahmurthy bagged 76753 votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and SWA here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his SWA counterpart with a difference of 6769 votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SWA candidate with a difference of 17048 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader C. Dass attained 119539 votes and SWA candidate C.V. Siddaiah Murthy bagged 102491 votes
• 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and KLP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his KLP counterpart with a difference of 6037 votes.
