Nalanda: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kaushlendra Kumar from Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) won the elections by a margin of 9627 votes. The polling / voting in Nalanda constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Kaushalendra Kumar and Hindustani Awam Morcha#s Ashok Kumar Azad Chandravanshi

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 22 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Nalanda, 20 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kaushlendra Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) as he defeated Satya Nand Sharma by a margin of 9627 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Janata Dal (United) candidate defated LJNSP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD(U) candidate Nitish Kumar attained 471310 votes and LJNSP's Dr. Kumar Pushpanjay bagged 368914 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Janata Dal (United) candidate defated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD(U) candidate George Fernandes attained 464458 votes and CPI's Gaya Singh bagged 358637 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, SAP candidate defated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SAP candidate George Fernandes attained 444784 votes and RJD's Ram Swaroop Prasad bagged 329114 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, SAP candidate defated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SAP candidate George Ferandes attained 486703 votes and CPI's Vijai Kumar Yadav bagged 318839 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 91871 votes CPI candidate Vijoy Kumar Yadav had got 365566 while INC got Ram Swaroop Prasad votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate with a difference of 11212 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ram Saroop Prasad attained 256349 votes and Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Vijoy Kumar Yadav bagged 245137 votes
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 39471 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Vijay Kumar Yadav attained 230531 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Pankaj Kumar Sinha bagged 191060 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 62601 votes CPI candidate Vijay Kumar Yadav had got 198959 while INC(U) got Sidheshwar Prasad votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated CPI candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Birendra Prasad attained 284684 votes and CPI's Vijay Kumar Yadav bagged 143662 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BJS candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Sedheshwar Prasad attained 223398 votes and BJS's Shyam Sunder Prasad bagged 93698 votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 78093 votes INC candidate S. Prasad had got 148410 while BJS got K. N. P. Singh votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 36914 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Sidheshwar Prasad attained 95883 votes and CPI candidate Vijay Kumar Yadav bagged 58969 votes
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 18319 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kailash Pati Singh attained 75835 votes and IND candidate Krishna Pd. Sinha bagged 57516 votes

पीएम ने कहा- छठे फेस के बाद मैंने कहा था कि तीन सौ पार, लोगों ने मेरा मजाक उड़ाया. लेकिन अब रिजल्ट सबके सामने है. अगले पांच साल देश के लिए बहुत अहम हैं, 1742 से 1947 वाली जनभागीदारी चाहिए.
