Background

Madhepura: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Rajesh Ranjan @ Pappu Yadav from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won the elections by a margin of 56209 votes. The polling / voting in Madhepura constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Dinesh Chandra Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Sharad Yadav

Madhepura 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Madhepura Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 59.97% Lok Sabha percent with 56.59% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 63.64% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 21924 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Madhepura, 9 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Rajesh Ranjan @ Pappu Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal as he defeated Sharad Yadav by a margin of 56209 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Janata Dal (United) candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 30320 votes. Here, Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav attained 328761 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Lalu Prasad bagged 298441 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate had defeated JD candidate by a margin of 51983 votes RJD candidate Lalu Prasad had got 297686 while JD got Sharad Yadav votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated SAP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Sharad Yadav attained 381190 votes and SAP's Anand Mandal bagged 144046 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated JP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Sharad Yadav attained 437483 votes and JP's Anand Mohan bagged 152106 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Ramesh Kumar Yadav Ravi attained 451856 votes and INC's Mahavir Prasad bagged 158908 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated LKD candidate by a margin of 75297 votes INC candidate Mahabir Prasad Yadav had got 298258 while LKD got Rajendra Prasad Yadav votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 57498 votes INC(U) candidate Rajendra Pd. Yadav had got 204022 while INC(I) got Ramendra Kumar Yadav Ravi votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Bindhyeshwari Prasad Mandal attained 301076 votes and INC's Rajendra Prasad Yadav bagged 100359 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SHD candidate with a difference of 27909 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Rajendra Prasad Yadav attained 146232 votes and SHD candidate Bindeshwari Pd. Mandal bagged 118323 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SSP candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 37426 votes. Here, SSP leader B. P. Mandal attained 145911 votes and INC candidate K. K. Mandal bagged 108485 votes
