Kishanganj: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mohammad Asrarul Haque from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 194612 votes. The polling / voting in Kishanganj constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Mahmood Ashraf and Congress Party#s Mohd. Javed

Kishanganj 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Taslimuddin attained 381530 votes and BJP's Vishwanath Kejriwal bagged 216947 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 79628 votes JD candidate Syed Shahabuddin had got 231703 while BJP got Vishwanath Kejriwal votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Independent candidate with a difference of 25991 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader M.J.Akbar attained 178556 votes and Independent candidate Asrarul Haque bagged 152565 votes
