Katihar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Tariq Anwar from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won the elections by a margin of 114740 votes. The polling / voting in Katihar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Dulal Chandra Goswami and Congress Party#s Tariq anwar

Katihar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 21 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Katihar, 19 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Tariq Anwar of the Nationalist Congress Party as he defeated Nikhil Kumar Choudhary by a margin of 114740 votes.

Here, Indian National Congress leader Tariq Anawar attained 337360 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Nikhil Kumar Choudhary bagged 316923 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 88286 votes INC candidate Tariq Anwar had got 267927 while BJP got Nikhil Kumar Choudhary votes.
