Kalahandi: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Arka Keshari Deo from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won the elections by a margin of 56347 votes. The polling / voting in Kalahandi constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Basanta Kumar Panda and Biju Janata Dal#s Pushpendra Singh Deo

Kalahandi 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Biju Janata Dal won 20 out of the 21 parliamentary seat with 44.1 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 21.5 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Kalahandi Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 75.81% Lok Sabha percent with 75.79% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 75.83% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 20880 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Kalahandi, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Arka Keshari Deo of the Biju Janata Dal as he defeated Pradipta Kumar Naik by a margin of 56347 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 34122 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Bikram Keshari Deo attained 357079 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Bhakta Charan Das bagged 322957 votes
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Bikram Keshari Deo attained 371911 votes and INC's Bhakta Charan Das bagged 255392 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Bikram Keshari Deo attained 344703 votes and INC's Bhakta Charan Das bagged 224789 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, SAP candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 53033 votes SAP candidate Bhakta Charan Das had got 200080 while INC got Subash Chandra Nayak votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 28925 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Subash Chandra Nayak attained 133406 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Bikram Keshari Deo bagged 104481 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 51952 votes JD candidate Bahkta Charan Das had got 211929 while INC got Jagannath Pattnaik votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 24074 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Jagannath Patnaik attained 154941 votes and JNP candidate Pratap Keshari Deo bagged 130867 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 45627 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Rasabehari Behara attained 127413 votes and JNP candidate Pratap Keshari Deo bagged 81786 votes
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate had defeated BLD candidate by a margin of 53261 votes IND candidate Pratap Keshari Deo had got 117816 while BLD got Gangadhar Hota votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 65874 votes SWA candidate Pratap Keshari Deo had got 89098 while INC got Arjun Pattjoshi votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 58679 votes SWA candidate P. K. Deo had got 108336 while INC got A. Pattajoshi votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, GP candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 40833 votes. Here, GP leader Pratap Kessari Deo attained 65974 votes and INC candidate Suresh Chandra Behera bagged 25141 votes
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha poll, GP candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, GP candidate Pratap Keshari Deo attained 174920 votes and INC's Ghanasyamdas Thidani bagged 70333 votes.
• 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha poll, GP candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, GP candidate Giridhari Bhoi attained 198378 votes and INC's Jogeswara Kumra bagged 88689 votes.

आयुक्त घटनास्थळी फिरकलेच नाहीत या वाक्याबाबत आयुक्त कार्यालयाकडून स्पष्टीकरण , छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज टर्मिनस (रेल्वे स्टेशन) आणि टाईम्स ऑफ इंडिया इमारतीजवळील पादचारी पूलाचा काही भाग कोसळून झालेल्या दि. १४ मार्च २०१९ रोजी सायंकाळी दुर्दैवी अपघात झाला.. त्यानंतर महापालिका आयुक्त श्री. अजोय मेहता यांनी घटनास्थळी धाव घेतली व सुरु असलेल्या बचाव कार्याची पाहणी करीत आवश्यक ते प्रशासकीय संनियंत्रण केले.
