Background

Jhargram: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Uma Saren from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 347883 votes. The polling / voting in Jhargram constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Dr Kunar Hembram and All India Trinamool Congress#s Beerbaha Soren

Jhargram 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Jhargram Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 85.26% Lok Sabha percent with 85.77% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 84.72% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 22935 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 13 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jhargram, 11 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Uma Saren of the All India Trinamool Congress as he defeated Dr. Pulin Bihari Baske by a margin of 347883 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defated All India Trinamool Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Rupchand Murmu attained 509045 votes and AITC's Nityananda Hembram bagged 157702 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated All India Trinamool Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Rupchand Murmu attained 402325 votes and AITC's Dakhin Murmu bagged 293644 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defated WBTC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Murmu Rupchand attained 455625 votes and WBTC's Samay Mandi bagged 168437 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Rupchand Murmu attained 485498 votes and INC's Subodh Hansda bagged 138234 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Jharkhand Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Rupchand Murmu attained 375760 votes and JKP's Amiya Kisku bagged 223453 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Matilal Hansda attained 397944 votes and INC's Panchanan Hansda bagged 167046 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 75242 votes CPM candidate Motilal Hansda had got 290454 while INC got Amiya Kumar Kisku votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 98169 votes CPM candidate Hasada Matilal had got 257936 while INC(I) got Tushar Tudu votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 47595 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Jadunath Kisku attained 159433 votes and INC candidate Amiya Kumar Kisku bagged 111838 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPM candidate with a difference of 14693 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Amiya Kumar Kisku attained 102762 votes and CPM candidate Jadu Nath Kisku bagged 88069 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BAC candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 45766 votes. Here, BAC leader A. K. Kisku. attained 160399 votes and INC candidate S. C. Hansda bagged 114633 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 45359 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Subodh Hansda attained 101784 votes and CPI candidate Gopinath Saren bagged 56425 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 45508 votes. Here, BJS leader Bandopadhyaya Durga Charan attained 151494 votes and INC candidate Basu Atul Chandra bagged 105986 votes
