Hajipur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ramvilas Paswan from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) won the elections by a margin of 225500 votes. The polling / voting in Hajipur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Lok Janshakti Party#s Pashupati Kumar Paras and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Shrichandra Rao

Hajipur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Hajipur, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ramvilas Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party as he defeated Sanjeev Prasad Toni by a margin of 225500 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Janata Dal (United) candidate defated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD(U) candidate Ram Vilas Paswan attained 434609 votes and RJD's Ramai Ram bagged 329105 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated SJP(R) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Ram Vilas Paswan attained 486350 votes and SJP(R)'s Ram Sunder Das bagged 308789 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated SAP candidate with a difference of 46231 votes. Here, JD leader Ram Bilash Paswan attained 387781 votes and SAP candidate Ram Sundar Das bagged 341550 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated JP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Ram Sunder Das attained 489105 votes and JP's Dasai Choudhary bagged 121353 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Ram Vilas Paswan attained 615129 votes and INC's Mahabir Paswan bagged 110681 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated LKD candidate by a margin of 51216 votes INC candidate Ram Ratan Ram had got 314725 while LKD got Ram Bilas Paswan votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, JNP(S) candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JNP(S) candidate Ram Vilas Paswan attained 266428 votes and JNP's Medni Paswan bagged 120589 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Ram Vilas Paswan attained 469007 votes and INC's Baleshwar Ram bagged 44462 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between NCO and INC here NCO candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 7084 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SSP candidate with a difference of 28530 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader V. Chaudhary attained 100645 votes and SSP candidate S. Rai bagged 72115 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SOC candidate with a difference of 21850 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Rajeshwar Patel attained 104351 votes and SOC candidate Achhaibat Rai bagged 82501 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated PSP candidate by a margin of 63219 votes INC candidate Rajeshwar Patel had got 163476 while PSP got Ram Sundar Dass votes.
