Gaya: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Hari Manjhi from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 115504 votes. The polling / voting in Gaya constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Vijay Kumar Manjhi and Hindustani Awam Morcha#s Jitan Ram Manjhi

Gaya 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 13 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Gaya, 10 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Hari Manjhi of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Ramji Manjhi by a margin of 115504 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RJD candidate Rajesh Kumar Manjhi attained 464829 votes and BJP's Balbir Chand bagged 361895 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 20783 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Ramji Manjhi attained 319530 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Rajesh Kumar bagged 298747 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 37446 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Krishna Kumar Chaudhary attained 303225 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Bhagwati Devi bagged 265779 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 59623 votes JD candidate Bhagwati Devi had got 294084 while BJP got Krishna Kumar Choudhary votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 53795 votes JD candidate Rajesh Kumar had got 308077 while INC got Jitan Ram Manjhi votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Inswar Chaudhary attained 390200 votes and CPI's Janki Paswan bagged 137277 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 84435 votes INC candidate Ram Swaroop Ram had got 234195 while BJP got Ishwar Chaudhary votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 33927 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ramswaroop Ram attained 148208 votes and JNP candidate Ishwar Chaudhary bagged 114281 votes
