Colleges, Universities Must Disclose Fee Structure, Accreditation, Ranking On Websites: UGC

UGC will release a set of guidelines for the "Minimum Mandatory Disclosure" that universities and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) need to upload on their respective websites.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is set to release a set of guidelines for the "Minimum Mandatory Disclosure" that universities and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) need to upload on their respective websites. These guidelines are designed to ensure transparency and provide essential information to students, parents, and other stakeholders. These disclosures typically cover information regarding courses, fees, infrastructure, faculty, and other relevant details to help individuals make informed decisions about pursuing higher education at a particular institution.

"Of late different stakeholders in Higher Education System like prospective students, parents, research scholars, govt. officials, alumni and public at large desire to seek certain basic information's from the websites of different Universities/HEI’s. We have found that the websites of several universities lack not only in providing basic minimum information related to their university but also at many a times their websites are not functional and updated. This causes lot of inconveniences and uncertainty to the stakeholders," UGC Chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar told ABP Live.

"At this defining moment when we are celebrating third year of National Education Policy 2020 it would be prudent to desire from the Universities to provide basic minimum information and updated content on their website. We have prepared a checklist of these information to be provided by the universities on their websites,” UGC Chairman said.

Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) are required to upload a set of minimum mandatory disclosures on their respective websites. These disclosures encompass various aspects, including information about the institution, administration profiles, academic programs, admission guidelines, research activities, student support services, campus well-being, alumni associations, fee structure, accreditation, ranking and more. These details aim to provide transparency and essential information for students, parents, and other stakeholders, enabling them to make informed decisions about their educational pursuits.

Moreover, contact information, key links, and relevant resources must be easily accessible on the website to ensure clarity and accessibility for all users.
