Two New Batches Of School Principals Sent To Singapore For Training: Punjab Education Minister

The Punjab government has flagged off the fifth and sixth batch of school principals for professional training at NIEI Singapore.

The government of Punjab has sent another batch of school principals for training in Singapore. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains flagged off the two batches of Punjab School Principals to SIngapore for the training programme. The new batches sent for training, consist of 60 school principals. Addressing a gathering, the Punjab Education Minister said that the comprehensive training programme of teaching personnel of the state within India and abroad is aimed at enhancing the skills of teachers and capabilities in line with the best global practices in terms of school education. 

Since February this year, the Punjab government has sent four such batches of school principals for professional training abroad, where each of the batches consisted of 36 school principals, Bains was reported as saying by news agency PTI. He further underlined that these training programmes were conducted in partnership with premier institutes like PAI, Singapore, and NIEA, Singapore. He further emphasized that the curriculum of these training programmes have focussed on providing contemporary administrative and educational skills, including innovative teaching methods and mentorship to the teachers.

The education minister further stated that with the new batch of principals being sent to Singapore for training, the Punjab government has sent a total of 300 teaching professionals including 200 principals and 100 headmasters for world-class professional training in prestigious international institutes. The state government has provided professional training to 140 school principals in Singapore, and around 100 headmasters at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Bains added further. 

In his address, the Punjab Education Minister also highlighted the importance of the training programmes which has now sent its fifth and sixth batch of 60 principals for professional training, after shortlisting the participants on merit. He stated that at NIEI Singapore, these principals will be undergoing effective training focussing on leadership skills, community involvement for school development and maintaining school discipline.
