NEET Results: NV Sir Files PIL In Supreme Court; Demands Re-Exam Or Removal Of Grace Marks

NEET UG 2024 Result: Students have demanded either a re-conduct of the NEET exam or the removal of grace marks.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a re-conduct of the NEET exam or the removal of grace marks. Motion Education's founder and CEO, Nitin Vijay said that under the digital satyagraha campaign run by Motion regarding irregularities in the NEET exam, over twenty thousand students have submitted their complaints. On behalf of students, we have filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

In this petition, students have demanded either a re-conduct of the NEET exam or the removal of grace marks. The petition raises issues such as 67 students achieving All India First Rank, 8 students from a single center securing first rank, scores of 718 and 719 out of 720, results being released 10 days early, and grace marks being awarded for time wasted during the exam.

The petition states that the 2018 court decision on which the NTA has based these grace marks explicitly mentions that it does not apply to medical and engineering cases. The NTA determined the time wasted by students based on CCTV footage from the centers, but it is not feasible to review footage for so many students. Therefore, there is no basis for the NTA to award grace marks for time lost.

SC To Hear Petition Seeking To Cancel NEET-UG Exam Today

The Supreme Court will hear a petition today, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, seeking the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 exam due to allegations of paper leaks. A vacation bench consisting of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta will review the matter.

The case was filed on June 1 following a Bihar police investigation into the NEET UG paper leak allegations. After the results were declared on June 4, it was found that 67 students scored 720/720, with six of them from the same center, an unprecedented situation.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, is under intense scrutiny for issues such as grace marks, mismanagement, and more. Students have been demanding a re-examination.
