The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest outside the NTA headquarters in Delhi today, June 10, 2024. The protest was in response to allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, the subsequent arrests of solvers, and later irregularities detected in the exam results. The exam results, which were released on June 4, have sparked controversy due to alleged inflated marks. While 67 students achieved the perfect score of 720, several others received scores of 718 or 719 — marks that some students claim are impossible to attain considering the test's nature.
ABVP has demanded an increase in security at examination centers in the future, conducting exams at government centers, and appointing exam inspectors/supervisors by the government.
Shivangi Kharwal, National Secretary, ABVP, said, "It seems that the NTA has become a corrupt institution. In almost every exam conducted by this institution, some irregularities have come to light. The recent NEET-UG results, where 67 students shared the first position and even 7 students from the same center, cannot be merely a coincidence. This shows that this institution is working corruptly. We demand a CBI investigation into this matter from the administration, and we have also made other demands to ensure clarity and certainty so that such a situation does not arise in the future."
Harsh Atri, Delhi State Secretary, ABVP, said, "The widespread irregularities in the recently released NEET-UG results indicate how the NTA institution is functioning irregularly and corruptly. Today, we have staged a strong protest outside the NTA headquarters regarding the irregularities in the NEET-UG exam and demanded immediate action from the NTA administration to rectify these irregularities."
