'If Kejriwal Has Faith In Judicial System...': BJP On AAP Protest Over Sanjay Singh's Arrest

Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers on Thursday launched protests in Delhi and Punjab over the arrest of Sanjay Singh. They even clashed with the police in Delhi.

The BJP on Thursday said that the AAP must withdraw its protest over the arrest of its MP Sanjay Singh if it believes in the nation's judiciary. Speaking at a press briefing, BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh said, "According to the investigation by ED - Sanjay Singh used to meet Dinesh Arora & Amit Arora. They gave Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore to Sanjay Singh. AAP leader Manish Sisodia is also in jail for the liquor policy irregularities. His bail plea was being heard and the court will pronounce its order next week."

"I want to ask AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal if he has faith in the country's judicial system. If you have faith, then why have you launched this protest," he asked.

Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers launched protests in Delhi and Punjab over the arrest of Sanjay Singh. They even clashed with the police in Delhi. The workers staged the protest around the AAP office at DDU Marg in the national capital and raised slogans against the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded Singh's release. The AAP workers sought to gherao the BJP head office in Delhi, but were prevented from doing so by the police.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Thursday sent Sanjay Singh to ED remand till October 10. After the verdict, Singh said that the allegations against him were false and baseless.

AAP protesters on Thursday were seen trying to move past the barricades put up by the police. The police had to resort to using water canons to disperse the agitators. The party alleged that the Enforcement Directorate arrested Singh as he raised issues related to the Adani Group in Parliament.

Meanwhile, the BJP launched its own protest at Rajghat, claiming that AAP was crushing the ethics of politics.

Before the hearing, Sanjay Singh was heard saying outside the courtroom: "PM Modi is scared as he is losing the elections. This is why he is taking such actions."

The AAP has also demanded to know the findings of the ED in the raid at Sanjay Singh's home on Wednesday. "The Modi government knows that it is going to lose the 2024 elections. That's why it is arresting journalists and Opposition leaders who ask questions, said AAP spokesperson Adil Khan. "We want to know what the ED found at Sanjay Singh's home that it had to arrest him. In the hundreds of raids, the agency did not find even 25 paise," he said

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said that the BJP governments were misusing central and state agencies. "The Union government is targeting the leaders of the Opposition. We strongly condemn this type of activity. The entire set of democratic values and principles has been hijacked. They are scared, which is why they are trying to intimidate the leaders of the Opposition," he said.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, too, slammed the Centre, saying: "The world can see how agencies are being used for political benefits. Why are you talking only about Sanjay Singh? There are many people in line. There are talks about us also. I come from the Adivasi community, and allegations are made against me of holding benami property. You know how Adivasi land and property are bought and sold. Our property is neither bought nor sold nor does the bank help us. What will one do by buying property?
