MCD Elections 2022: Former Congress MLA Asif Khan Arrested For Mishandling, Abusing A Constable

MCD Polls 2022: Delhi police said that Asif Khan assaulted and misbehaved with the constable when asked about EC permission to address a gathering.

New Delhi: Former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan has been arrested by Delhi police for misbehaving with a constable and using abusive language against him, reported ANI citing Delhi police. 

On Friday, a police constable noticed a gathering near the Tayyab Masjid area. He later found out that the father of Congress MCD Counselor candidate Ariba Khan was addressing the gathering using a loud hailer along with his supporters. The constable asked him for EC permission regarding the gathering after which Asif Khan became aggressive and started misbehaving with him. 

“Asif used abusive language & manhandled the constable. Complaint registered against Asif in PS Shaheen Bagh, investigation underway,” ANI quoted Delhi Police as saying. 

The police on Saturday arrested Asif Khan in the FIR registered earlier. The police informed the same and said, “The main accused, former Congress MLA Asif Mohd Khan has been arrested. FIR registered at Shaheen Bagh Police Station. Two others Minhaaz and Saabir have also been detained while arresting the accused. Their role in the above FIR is being examined.” 

MCD polls in Delhi are scheduled to take place on December 4 and the counting of votes polled will be done on December 7.
