Delhi Court Reserves Order On Manish Sisodia's Regular Bail Plea, To Pronounce Verdict On April 30

Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia had moved an interim bail plea for the election campaign but withdrew it later.

A Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order on bail pleas moved by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia seeking regular bail in CBI and ED cases related to corruption and money laundering linked to the Delhi Excise policy case. The court will pronounce its order on April 30.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had opposed Sisodia's bail plea saying he should not be granted bail as he was termed mastermind in this case.

Hearing arguments from the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate as well as the counsels appearing for Sisodia, special judge for CBI and ED, Kaveri Baweja reserved the order for April 30, as per a PTI report.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader had moved an interim bail plea for the election campaign but withdrew it later as his counsel told the courtthat the plea has become infructuous as the regular bail plea is being reserved.

The federal agencies have alleged that there have been irregularities while modifying the Delhi Excise Policy, licence holders were extended undue favours, licence fee was waived or reduced and licences were extended without the competent authority's approval.

The probe agencies have also alleged that the beneficiaries diverted "illegal" gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection.

Sisodia was arrested in February last year by the CBI for his alleged role in the "scam". Subsequently, he was arrested by the ED in a money-laundering case stemming from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023.
