The IMD had previously forecast rain and cloudy weather beginning Wednesday night as a result of the new western disturbance.
"There is enough moisture available in northwest India due to the western disturbance and the temperatures have also risen over the last few days. So, the conditions are conducive for such activity:" said Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the IMD's regional forecasting centre.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was 16.2 degrees Celsius, and the day will be partly cloudy. The peak temperature was 33.6 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies, light rain, and thunderstorms are expected over the next three to four days, with Friday being the most active.
Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is expected to drop three to four degrees celsius.
Last week, back-to-back western disturbances over northwest India brought rain and hail to several parts of the region, including the national capital.
Delhi received 12.2 mm of rain in 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Saturday, the most precipitation on a March day in three years.
