3 Killed As Fire Breaks Out At Residential Building In Delhi's Krishna Nagar

The fire which broke out a residential building in Delhi's Krishna Nagar area was later doused but three people were killed in the incident.

As many as three people were killed while three others were injured after a fire broke out at a residential building in Delhi's Krishna Nagar area in the early hours of Sunday, as per the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Ten people were rescued and the injured were admitted to a hospital, reported ANI.

"We received a call of fire at 2.35 am from Krishna Nagar. The fire was doused at 7.20 am, said Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg, adding that a total of five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, reported PTI.

"A total of 13 people were rescued but three were declared dead," he said.

The incident comes just hours after a massive fire engulfed a baby care centre in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar, leaving seven newborns dead. According to DFS the blaze broke out at the children's hospital in Shahdara on Saturday night.

Twelve infants were rescued from the medical facility but seven of them died, Garg said.

"...It was a very tough operation. We made two teams. One team started firefighting because there was a blast of cylinders, we can say the chain of blast of cylinders. So we had to save ourselves also," Garg said while speaking to news agency ANI.

We started rescue operations for babies as well. Unfortunately, we could not save all the children. We removed all the twelve babies to the hospital. But after arrival, they declared that 6 were dead. That is a regrettable incident...," he said.

Five babies are undergoing treatment at another hospital, he added.
