Kanjhawala Case: Victim Was Under Influence Of Alcohol At Time Of Accident, Shows Viscera Report

New Delhi: The Kanjhawala accident victim was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the time of the incident, the viscera report shows, news agency PTI reported.

According to the viscera sample report of the 20-year-old accident victim Anjali Singh, who was killed after being dragged under a car in outer Delhi's Sultanpuri, she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, Delhi Police said.

The examination was conducted by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Rohini, and the viscera sample report was received on January 24, said Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order Zone II) Sagar Preet Hooda.

The viscera examination is a part of the ongoing investigation into the case, the official said.

It is to be noted that Anjali Singh was killed in the early hours on January 1 after her scooter was hit by a car that dragged her for 12 kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala. So far, seven people have been arrested in the case.

Earlier, Anjali’s friend Nidhi, too, had claimed that the victim was drunk at the time of the incident.

Initially, six of the seven accused were charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). However, later they were charged under Section 302 (murder), police said.

The murder charge was brought against them after collection of physical, oral, forensic and other scientific evidence, police said.

Notably, police have also suspended 11 of its personnel who were on PCR and picket duty on the route at which the woman was killed after being dragged under a car.

Earlier, it was revealed that all four individuals in the automobile that hit Sharma dragged her for 13 kilometres were intoxicated.
