Delhi Sees Heavy Rain, Waterlogging, Traffic Snarls Leave People In Trouble
The early morning rain inconvenienced many commuters who faced hardships in reaching their destinations.
The national capital on Saturday witnessed incessant rainfall which caused trouble to people. Due to the heavy downpour, many parts of the city, including Rabindra Nagar and Connaught Place, saw waterlogging that led to traffic snarls. Earlier in the day, several parts of Delhi saw light showers. The India Meterological Department has predicted more showers during the day. Delhi recorded 3 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ended at 8.30 am on Saturday. The early morning rain inconvenienced many commuters who faced hardships in reaching their destinations.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain during the day. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, it said.

According to IMD, heavy rainfall was reported today from 08:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Safdarjung Airport recorded rainfall of 98.7mm, Lodhi Road and Ridge recorded rainfall of 92 mm and 111.4 mm respectively, as per ANI.

Earlier, the weather office said that heavy rainfall is likely to occur over North India in the next four to five days. "Heavy rains in North India for the next four to five days. The effect of active monsoon will be seen in other states," the IMD said in a statement. The agency urged people up north to take necessary precautions against heavy rainfall.
"Weather Warning for Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh are under a heavy rainfall alert from July 8 to 9. Be prepared for intense rain and take necessary precautions," the IMD stated. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, rainfall since early morning left some parts of Moradabad city waterlogged.
