Delhi Police SI Accuses Husband Of Assault, Shares CCTV Footage. DCW Seeks Action

According to the officials, the situation came to light after Doli Tevathia shared a video and description of the alleged attack on Twitter.

Officials on Monday stated that a lady Delhi Police sub-inspector (SI) accused her advocate husband of harassment and physical assault in Dwarka, southwest Delhi, news agency PTI reported.

According to them, the situation came to light after Doli Tevathia shared a video and description of the alleged attack on Twitter.

Taking to Twitter, SI stated: "I am a sub-inspector in the Delhi Police. Presently on maternity leave. I am constantly facing abuse from my husband advocate Tarun Dabas. Today he beat me in broad daylight. Please ensure action."

Dabas can be seen in the video ramming a parked car with his black SUV and getting into a furious altercation with his wife. Both are seen arguing as she smashes his car's side view mirror.

In the footage, the man who is beating and shoving Tevathia is also seen threatening to murder her.

Following this, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) submitted a notice to the police on Monday, requesting a copy of the FIR as well as information on the arrests made in the case.

The panel has also requested information on any complaints submitted by the lady and her family against the guy, as well as any police action taken.

The commission has requested that the Delhi Police submit an action taken report by December 16.

Tevathia stated on Monday that they had filed three complaints against Dabas thus far.

The Delhi Police have opened an investigation into Dabas's case.

A case has been registered at Najafgarh police station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of the SI and her brother Sumit Kumar.

Kumar said in his lawsuit that Dabas attacked him on many times in September.

“I was attacked near Rohini Heliport on September 4 by Dabas and five to seven goons he brought along. I made PCR calls and was somehow saved by the police. A complaint was also given to the office of the Rohini Joint Commissioner of Police,” Kumar said in the complaint.

Highlighting alleged inaction by police, he stated: “I asked the police to ensure my and my family's safety. However, no substantial pre-emptive action was taken to thwart Dabas."

Earlier in the day, DCW chief Swati Maliwal turned to Twitter and stated that even a policewoman is not secure and must seek assistance through social media.

"It is very unfortunate that a woman police officer had to approach social media to seek action against her husband," she said.

"I have issued notice to the Delhi Police in the matter. An FIR should be registered immediately and the accused must be arrested. We shall provide all possible support to the women officer. If a police officer is not safe in the capital, how can other women be?," Maliwal said.

Kumar further claimed in his complaint that on September 11, Dabas brought almost 15 thugs with him in three cars and attempted to harm him and his family.
